The President warns Governors that there should be no room for disturbances in people's lives.

Today, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa told Governors and District Secretaries that they should intervene personally to maintain key services and avoid any interruption to people's lives.

The President voiced these thoughts this morning during the Presidential Secretariat's weekly meeting with Governors and District Secretaries (02).

Despite the current situation, the President stated that the country's economy could not be allowed to collapse, and that all stakeholders must work together to overcome the challenge and move forward as a country.

He urged Governors and District Secretaries to provide their full support for the factories' and development projects' continued operations.

The President emphasized the necessity of looking into the potential of continuing to operate a plant or carrying out a development project in accordance with health recommendations rather than closing them down immediately when an infected person is discovered on the premises.

At the discussion, the issues and problems that people encounter as a result of travel limitations were reviewed in detail.

Despite the government's instructions to maintain industries and essential services in accordance with proper health recommendations, President Rajapaksa said there were flaws in the initiative's implementation at the divisional level.

The President directed that the mechanism for distributing surplus fruits and vegetables purchased from farmers be properly implemented at the divisional level. He emphasized that it was up to all stakeholders to prevent the agrarian economy from collapsing.

The projects that are being implemented with local funds and foreign loan assistance should be able to meet the relevant goals. (Source Daily Mirror)
