Update on the new color-coded sticker system that prohibits taxis

The police-implemented sticker system for vehicles entering Colombo would be maintained today as well.

DIG Ajith Rohana, a police spokesman, said that a fresh sticker with a different color will be issued today, and that it will only be valid for that day.

He stated that the Police were able to detect the flaws in the system that was established yesterday, and that they were corrected and applied today.

During the island wide travel ban, which has been extended until June 14th, a color-coded system will be used, with a different color being provided each day.

According to a police spokesman, roadblocks have been put up at 52 locations across Colombo's neighborhood and suburbs, where vehicles entering the city would be inspected and given a sticker.

At the checkpoints, the public has been asked to cooperate with police officers.

DIG Ajith Rohana went on to say that during the island-wide travel restriction, all public transportation was forbidden.

During this time, he noted, taxi services are also barred from operating. (Source: NewsWire)
