If the price of wheat flour rises, bakery products may rise as well: ACBOA

According to All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association (ACBOA) President N.K. Jayawardene, bakery product costs may rise if the government allows prime wheat importing companies to raise their pricing.

They have also received information regarding requests to hike the price of wheat flour, he told the Daily Mirror.

"Wheat flour firms have made various requests on multiple occasions," he said, "and it is too early to anticipate that they will not be granted that authority."

The recent spike in fuel prices has had an impact on his bakery's production as well.

The Association has yet to make a decision on a price hike, according to Mr. Jayawardene.
