COVID vaccines are being distributed through diplomatic channels, not by the government. Dilum is wealthy.
Community Police Services State Minister Dilum Amunugama claimed that the COVID-19 vaccines sent to Sri Lanka came as a result of diplomatic efforts and conversations with vaccine-producing countries, not because the government has money.
He told the reporters in Kandy that the President's Secretary made the diplomatic approach after touring COVID immunization centers in Mahaiyawa.
Following the conversations, the President, the Government, and higher officials have been able to procure a larger quantity of vaccines
However, the globe is experiencing a severe vaccination shortage. Every country desires a sufficient supply of vaccines for its own purposes.
"Money does not play a large role here; the actual difficulty is getting the appropriate number of vaccines; anyone may buy vaccinations if they have the requisite finances; even the government may have asked the private sector to import vaccinations," he stated.
According to the State Minister, there are no vaccines accessible on the global market.
The government, on the other hand, will be able to obtain them through diplomatic efforts and suitable negotiations with vaccine-producing nations.
Minister Amunugama also stated that the current administration has no reservations about obtaining COVID vaccines for people who have consumed cyanide.
M.A. Sumanthiran, a spokesman for the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and Parliamentarian President's Counsel, told the government on May 31 that if the government is unable to do so, the TNA is willing to collect funds and provide PCR testing machines and COVID-19 vaccines for the Eastern Province and other provinces.
