After a fire in the Indian Ocean, a container ship en route from Colombo became damaged and adrift.
At around 1930 UTC on June 24, the container ship MSC MESSINA apparently caught fire in her engine room midway between Sri Lanka and the Malacca Strait in the Indian Ocean.
The ship was crippled and was still disabled and adrift as of 0415 UTC on June 25.
