Two people have been arrested after the French President was slapped by a crowd during a walkabout.

(Source: Reuters) According to BFM TV and RMC radio, two persons were arrested after French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped by a man during a walkabout session with a crowd in the Drome region in southern France on Tuesday.

A video clip circulating on Twitter shows a man in a green T-shirt, spectacles, and a face mask yelling “Down with Macronia” (“A Bas La Macronie”) and then slapping Macron in the face.

Macron's security team rushed in to bring the man to the ground and take him away from Macron. A man attempted to smack Macron, according to Macron's staff.
