According to health experts, the Indian strain of COVID-19 known as Delta has been discovered in the Pragathipura district of Madiwela.
A sample from a patient who was suspected of being infected with the Delta variation was sent to be researched to determine the specific variant.
Dr. Hemantha Herath, the Deputy Director-General of Health Services, indicated that steps are being taken to prevent the virus from spreading further.
"At this time, we are taking all preventive precautions. It's impossible to say whether or not the patient in question has been infected with the Indian strain. It's possible that it's a different version. It's still up in the air "Dr. Herath explained.
Previously, the Indian variety was discovered in the Dematag.
