Liquor delivery through the internet is not permitted: The Excise Department reacts to complaints.

The Excise Department today rejected claims that liquor will be available for purchase online from supermarkets starting today.

Liquor can now be ordered online from supermarkets in the same way that other food items can be ordered.

According to Excise spokesman Kapila Kumarasingha, the government has not authorized or sanctioned the sale of liquor via the internet.
