Health officials have asked President Obama to prolong travel restrictions.

According to reports, health officials have asked the government to prolong the travel restrictions for another week to help stop the spread of Covid 19.

Health officials have warned the government that unless the travel limitations are prolonged, the desired results from the existing limitations would not be reached, according to the Lankadeepa daily.

The present trend of 3000+ daily cases recorded is an alarming condition, according to the research, and adequate limitations should be put in place to contain it.

Last Wednesday (2), the Sri Lanka Medial Association issued a letter to the President, repeating the aforesaid facts.On the 21st of May, the government implemented travel restrictions, which were eased on the 25th and then reimposed on the same day. Since then, travel restrictions have remained in place and were initially extended until June 7th.

Last week, though, the government extended the islandwide limitation for another week, until June 14th. Health officials have allegedly recommended that it be extended for another week, to June 21st. (Source: NewsWire)
