15% increase in fuel transportation charges from July 1: SLPPTOA
The Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association (SLPPTOA) said today that starting July 1, there will be a 15% price increase, in accordance with the recent diesel price hike.
On June 25, SLPPTOA Joint Secretary D.V. Shantha Silva said he had a talk with the Energy Minister about this.
"The meeting was led by the Energy Minister and included officials from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO), CEYPETCO Managing Director (MD), CEYPETCO Deputy Manager (Finance), and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL)."
During the meetings, the SLPPTOA's request to amend the transportation formula in light of the recent fuel price hike was approved by officials, according to Mr. Silva.
As a result, he said, a 15% surcharge will be added to current transportation prices.
On February 21, 2021, conversations were made with Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila to alter the transportation formula. Later, on March 3, 20, April 27, and June 14, he said, many letters were sent in this regard.
Diesel prices were increased by Rs.7 as a result of the latest increase in fuel prices, which took effect at midnight on June 11th. Due to current transportation prices, tanker operators must pay an additional cost each kilometer. According to the transport calculation, the cost per kilometer to transport a 13,200 litre tank was Rs.18.83. For a 19,000-litre tank, the tanker operator must pay Rs.28 and for a 33,000-litre tank, Rs.7.67.
